Minister O’Neill Welcomes Kildalton Students to Stormont

Agriculture Minister, Michelle O’Neill, took time out of her schedule to welcome a group of agricultural students and staff from Kildalton College in County Kilkenny to Stormont.

The students are taking part in an exchange programme with final year Level 3 Extended Diploma in Agriculture students from the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE).

Speaking after meeting the students the Minister said: “I was delighted to welcome the Kildalton students to Stormont during their exchange programme with CAFRE and to discuss with them their impressions of farming in the north.”

During the exchange programme the Kildalton students were based at Greenmount Campus. While at Greenmount, they undertook a series of lectures, workshops and practical classes focused on dairying and beef and sheep production. They also visited a number of farms in the area and had the opportunity to discuss farming issues in the north with industry members. Greenmount students visited Kildalton College in the same week and followed a similar programme.

The Minister added: “This exchange programme, which is now in its seventh year, provides an ideal opportunity for the students involved to share experiences of agriculture across the island outside of a classroom environment.”
