Tullynally Castle has 22 acres of gardens,  privately owned and open to visitors for six months of the year. The layout of the gardens and magnificent parkland date mainly from the early 1800s, but the present owners, Thomas and Valerie Pakenham have added many new features. Thomas has created a forest garden with his own collection of wild-collected, seed grown specimens from Tibet, Sechuan and Sikkim. A collection of Magnolias and rare trees and shrubs compliment the herbaceous borders and walled gardens. The garden has been open for 40 years and is well regarded by garden enthusiasts around the world.
