Westport Estate, home to the renowned Westport House, has secured a €20.2 million investment grant from Fáilte Ireland. This funding, part of a €75 million master plan led by the Hughes family, aims to elevate Westport Estate into a world-class tourism destination.
As part of this ambitious vision, Westport Estate will undergo a transformative redevelopment, including the iconic Westport House and the acclaimed Hotel Westport.
The masterplan envisions a reimagined 433-acre estate, integrating a €20.2 million rewilding project with celebrated landscape garden designer Mary Reynolds. This one-of-a-kind experience will blend the earth with celtic Ireland and Irish heritage, attracting an estimated 277,000 visitors.
Highlights of the master plan include the restoration of Westport House, unveiling its 300-year history, and the creation of an immersive visitor experience recounting the legendary tale of Grace O’Malley, the Pirate Queen of Connacht.
Exciting times lie ahead for Westport Estate as it evolves into an extraordinary cultural, heritage and world-class tourism destination.
