History: John and Elsie Clarke founded Johnstown Garden Centre in August 1974, on a greenfield site in the quaint Norman village of Johnstown, Naas, Co. Kildare in Ireland. The company expanded rapidly and in 1980, sons Jim and Sean joined the firm and today manage the site jointly.
Today: John and Elsie are still involved on a regular basis but taking it a bit easier now after 40 years, both enjoying very good health, as we now celebrate over 40 years in Business. The Centre has continued to expand, most recently in 2013 and 2014 and now comprises Ireland's largest plant selection and Garden Store in a bright airy modern shopping environment, a 200 seat café and Café Gardens and very extensive car and coach parking. The entire Garden Centre is fully wheelchair accessible, with special parking bays and toilet facilities
Our aim has always been to be truly a Gardeners' Garden Centre and now in addition, we can also offer an extensive range of other lines like Outdoor Clothing, Gourmet Foods, Kitchen and Household, and unusual Gift items. Our website has one of the largest plant ranges available anywhere, all from the very top quality growers in Europe. The Centre is a real destination Centre in the area, a meeting place and a relaxing environment in which to spend some time with family, friends or just some quiet time to relax. Over 500,000 people visited us in Johnstown last year.
