Seasonal Craft Gardener

About the Role
Abbeyleix House and Farm is a large private estate in County Laois with historically significant formal gardens and productive growing spaces. We are seeking a Seasonal Craft Gardener to join the garden team for the summer season, working alongside the Head Gardener in the care and development of the gardens.

This role suits someone with a strong interest in horticulture, a practical approach to outdoor work, and a willingness to learn within a professional garden environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with the maintenance of lawns, formal gardens, borders, cut flower and kitchen gardens, and seasonal container displays
• Supporting seasonal tasks, including planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, and general garden care
• Assisting with propagation and nursery work
• Maintaining high standards of garden presentation as part of a small team
• Using tools and machinery safely, following instructions

Person Specification

• Positive, reliable, and hardworking attitude
• Willingness to learn and take instruction
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Previous experience is desirable but not essential, provided the candidate demonstrates motivation and commitment.

Qualifications (Desirable)

• QQI Level 5 in Horticulture, RHS Level 2, or equivalent

Additional Requirements

• Full driving licence required

Duration: May – September
Start Date: May 2024
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Salary: Dependent on experience
